In Canada, human and animal pathogens and their toxins are normally divided into four categories depending on the level of health risk associated in handling them in the laboratory; Group I representing the least dangerous to Group IV being the most dangerous. In the U.S., these categories are referred to as ‘Biosafety Levels’. CREM Co Labs is certified by the Government of Canada to store and handle materials classified at RG I and II. All members of its laboratory staff are fully trained for the purpose.

Regulatory agencies in Cananda and the U.S. mandate that laboratory studies for data submission for government registration of products be performed in facilities complying with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines. CREM Co Labs is accredited for this purpose by the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Such an accreditation is granted for a two-year period after an on-site review of the laboratory facilities by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB). The GLP accreditation under OECD is valid for its 30+ members (countries).
The Association for Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) is a highly influential organization, which sets standards for the performance of mechanical devices in domestic settings. CREM Co Labs has assisted AHAM in developing its standard (AC-5) on assessing the performance of mechanical devices for air decontamination in indoor settings. This standard has helped ASHRAE, another influential standards-setting body, develop its first standard to deal with infectious agents in indoor air. CREM Co Labs is certified by AHAM to assess devices for indoor air decontamination.
